Sessions and Workshops

Private Sessions: Hands-on Work

The hands-on work is the most potent application of our work and offers some of the most effective techniques available today for long lasting, and potentially substantial change in the body. Each session addresses different muscle groups, working from the core outwards. Re-patterning the major core muscle groups takes about 4 sessions. It may take 4-8 sessions for major changes depending on the issues.  Each session includes the learning of movement sequences for daily use specific to the muscles re-patterned in that session. The client’s daily somatic practice creates new habits on a neurological level that replace old movement habits and help promote long lasting change. The techniques are a collaboration between practitioner and client to re-educate the muscle/brain connections and improve voluntary control of and sensation in the tissues. The client remains dressed during the session in comfortable, flexible clothing.

Cost: Your first session includes short interview of physical history, evaluation, and short hands on session. It includes the book “Somatics,” by Thomas Hanna. Initial session is $150, 90 min. Subsequent sessions: $125, 90 minutes.  A package of 5 sessions may be purchased for $525, equivalent to one free session.

The Movement Practice: Workshops/Group Classes

Come learn effective techniques for self-care and repair and discover relief from tension, stress, pain, old injury, and post surgery. The workshops will help you learn these gentle, slow motion movement sequences and re-patterning techniques and include illustrated take-home materials for your continuing home practice. The sequences tend to calm the nervous system, reduce pain, can lower blood pressure, and promote better quality of sleep – to name a few of many benefits. The process is so gentle that it is also safe for aging adults or for people recovering from injury, surgery, or trauma. This work is extremely helpful for anyone of any fitness level, and including athletes, dancers, actors, physical therapists, bodyworkers, Yoga teachers, Pilates instructors, and anyone wanting a more intelligent body. Everyone will work relative to his/her own comfort zone.

Instructors of other modalities will find useful ideas and techniques to enhance their skill set. Physical therapists certified in HSE report that these techniques are revolutionizing their practice.     Please wear comfortable, flexible clothing and socks for class.
