      Once learned, you will never want to be without your somatic movement practice. You can use it early in the day to calm the nervous system and prepare the body for more intelligent movement and injury prevention, in the evening to promote better quality sleep, or shorter sequences as somatic breaks from your work or travel day.  These innovative and unique applications of neuroscience give you excellent tools for repairing and caring for you body.

Mon 2/15, 7-8:30 PM “A Somatic Approach to relief of Headaches and Chronic Neck Pain” offers self care methods to decompress, mobilize the vertebrae of the neck, upper torso, and shoulders, to take away pain, stiffness, and methods to “trip up” the muscular contraction typical to the onset of migraines. You will find yourself using these methods

Mon, 2/22, 7-8:30 PM “Core to the Floor, Addressing the needs of athletes, Dancers of all ages and fitness levels” offers a somatic workout to improve leg function, plus lots of quick, easy, and effective techniques for care and repair that you can apply to dance, yoga, training, running, Pilates. Our focus will be detailed re-patterning of muscles of the pelvis thru the feet.

Mon 3/1, 7-8:30 PM “Anti Stress/Anti Aging Workshop” addresses postural issues like sunken chest and rounded shoulders, the results of accumulated stress and/or habits of posture of dentists, body workers, musicians, computer users.  When posture improves, so does lymphatic function, and oxygen intake, as well as many other systems.

3/7 “Headaches, neck, shoulder pain” offers floor work and somatic techniques to improve muscle function in the upper body area resulting in decompression of vertebrae, more motion and circulation in the neck, shoulders, and enhancing all systems including lymphatic flow and brain function.

3/21 “Somatic Sequences for the workplace or travel” offers a variety of short sitting sequences that may be used as a somatic break during your workday or while traveling. Learn how to take the work/travel day out of your body!

Tue, Mar 23, 1:00-2:30 “Mobilizing Major Muscle Groups of the Torso”offers a daily maintenance sequence and techniques to take pain and stress away, and prevent injury. When you restore optimum resting length to the muscles via these methods (a very different process than stretching), you bring more sensation, control, and joints are decompressed.

Thu Mar 25, 1-2:30 “Core to the Floor”addresses issues of lower torso, hips, legs, feet. Learn ways to quickly take a spasm out of a hamstring, foot, calf muscle, and care and repair techniques for sacroiliac joints, knees, ankles, feet, sciatica, psoas muscle, and more. This is must have information for dancers of any style, athletes, or anyone wanting improved function of the lower body.

Sun Mar 28, 1:00-2:30 “More Intelligent Upper Body”takes chronic pain away from the spine, neck, shoulders, arms, and brings more sensation, control, ease, and intelligence to your upper body expression.
